DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT
The Shetland Pony originates from the Shetland and Orkney islands of Scottland.
 
DESCRIPTION
The height of this pony varies from 65 cm to 115 cm. They have a robust bodies with  proportionally shorter legs, thicker manes, tails, and overall coat. The Shetland Pony has great endurance, is used for riding and transportation. It can pull twice its own weight.
 
REPRODUCTION
The Shetland Pony sexually mature at age of 3 years. Their mating season is in spring. After the 11 month gestation period, females give birth to usually one foal.






 
DIET
Ponies are herbivores.
 
SOCIAL BEHAVIOR
They live in social groups.
 

LONGEVITY
Shetland pony can live usually up to 20 years.
